A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined our stall at Leeds West Indian Carnival on August bank holiday Monday – check out our pics of the day below and on our Facebook page.
We were joined in Potternewton Park by Fabian Hamilton MP, Alex Sobel MP, West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin and councillors from across the city to have conversations with large numbers of people in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We listened to people from across our constituency, as well as visitors from as far afield as Darlington and London.
Leeds North East Labour Party is the only political party with a stall and visible presence at Carnival every year. 2025 was no different - neither the Lib Dems or the Green Party showed up. The event is also supported financially by Leeds City Council, under the leadership of the Labour Party.
Carnival is our community's biggest event of the year. Starting in 1967, it is Europe’s longest running Caribbean carnival parade and was the first to incorporate all three essential elements of authentic West Indian carnival – costumes, music and a masquerade procession.
