With local elections approaching on 7th of May 2026, the Chapel Allerton branch is stepping up its campaign!

Across Chapeltown, Chapel Allerton and Meanwood, supporting the re-election of Eileen Taylor, Jane Dowson, and Mohammed Rafique as local councillors.

Over recent years, local councillors have focused on listening to residents and delivering for the community.

Regular conversations with local people across the ward have helped shape priorities, ensuring that everyday concerns are reflected in local action.

Their work has included supporting community-led housing and neighbourhood projects, helping strengthen the area and deliver long-term benefits. They have also continued to run regular advice surgeries, giving residents direct access to support on issues such as housing, local services and neighbourhood concerns.

Campaigning takes place throughout the year, with members visiting different parts of the ward each month to speak with residents. These sessions are open, informal and designed to help build stronger connections across the community.

The branch is led by Chair Tom Chigbo, alongside Vice Chair Nia Ward and Secretary Emily Fletcher, and continues to welcome new members and supporters.

Residents are invited to take part in the branch’s monthly meeting:

Branch MeetingWhen: 2nd Tuesday of the month, 7:15–9:00pmWhere: Community Wellbeing Hub, Reginald Terrace, LS7 3EZ

No prior experience is needed to get involved, and new participants are supported by experienced members. Campaign sessions are open to all and often conclude with a chance to continue conversations over lunch or drinks.

As the election approaches, the branch says it will continue to focus on listening to residents and communicating the work being done locally, encouraging anyone interested to get involved in shaping the future of the area.
