With local elections taking place in May 2026, the Roundhay branch is continuing its community campaigning across Gledhow, Oakwood and Roundhay.

The branch is supporting Kathleen Johnstone as its candidate for ward councillor, as part of its efforts to engage with residents and represent local priorities in the run-up to the election.

The branch is led by Chair Andrew Enever, with David Miller serving as Secretary, helping to coordinate local activity and outreach.

Local councillors in the area have focused on community engagement and practical improvements, including working with residents through regular conversations and supporting local initiatives. This has included efforts to improve neighbourhood spaces, strengthen community connections, and address everyday concerns across the ward.

Campaigning takes place throughout the year, with members visiting a different part of the ward each month to speak with local people. These sessions are informal, welcoming, and a great way to get to know the community while understanding local priorities.

Residents are also invited to attend the branch’s regular monthly meeting:

Branch MeetingWhen: 2nd Tuesday of the month, 7:30–9:00pmWhere: Roundhay Parochial Hall, 5 Fitzroy Drive, LS8 4AB (by Oakwood Clock)

No prior experience is needed to get involved, and new participants are always supported by more experienced members. Training is provided, and anyone interested can simply turn up. Campaign sessions often finish with an opportunity to continue conversations over lunch or drinks.

As the election approaches, the branch says it will continue focusing on listening to residents and encouraging wider participation, while sharing updates on local work and community priorities across Roundhay.
