Cllr Mahalia France-Mir

It is with great sadness that we have to report that our friend and colleague, Councillor Mahalia France-Mir, has passed away. She will be deeply missed and our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Local MP, Fabian Hamilton, paid tribute to Mahalia, saying:

"Today we lost a wonderful person, a woman who fought for social justice all her life, a mother who was bringing up four lovely children, a daughter who made her parents proud.
I have always been grateful to call Mahalia France-Mir my friend. She worked hard for the constituents of Moortown and Meanwood as our Ward Councillor and she always put her family and friends first.
She was taken from us far too early and I know she will be mourned by so many people who were fortunate to know and love her.
Mahalia’s husband, children, parents and many, many friends are devastated but will always cherish the love she gave to everyone who knew her. May she rest in peace and her memory be a blessing."
